Volunteer Overview

Being a volunteer-based organization, naturally, volunteers are critical to our success. Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience. We even offer community service hours for our younger volunteers. Volunteering activities are generally broken down into three categories: Dog/Cat Volunteering, Facility Volunteering, and Out-of-Facility Volunteering.

Note: The minimum age for volunteering is 14.

Dog/Cat Volunteering

Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of owning a dog or a cat knows that it is hard work. At our shelter, this is no different. We can have up to dozens of dogs and cat at a time who all need love and care during their stay at our shelter. Some of the activities involved with working with these animals include:

  • Walking Dogs
  • Feeding Dogs/Cats
  • Cleaning Cages
  • Playing with Dogs/Cats
  • Socializing Dogs/Cats
  • Training Dogs
  • Supervising Dog Runs
  • and More

Facility Volunteering

For those who are nervous around animals, or simply do not wish to deal with all the fur, there are many other ways to help at the shelter. Such activities include:

  • Office Work/Data Entry
  • Being a Phone Representative
  • Floor/Room/Exterior Cleaning
  • Trash Removal
  • Dish/Bowl Washing
  • Laundry
  • and More

Out-of-Facility Volunteering

Finally, for those who do not wish to make the trip to our facility or simply do not have the time to come in regularly, there are other ways to help. Such activities include:

  • Fostering an Animal
  • Applying for Grants
  • Creating Newsletters
  • Creating Content for Social Media
  • Marketing
  • Transporting Animals to/from the Vet or Adoption Events
  • Volunteer Recruiting
  • Assisting at events
  • and many, many More

When it comes to volunteering, literally anyone can help with the proper training. We encourage you to reach out to us and help our animals in any way you can. We don’t mind if you’d be doing this for the animals, for your school, for your mother, or for yourself, we appreciate all the help we can get.

If you would like to donate your time by becoming a volunteer, please fill out the volunteer application (Volunteer – Application Form) and bring it to the shelter. A volunteer coordinator will then contact you with the next steps in the process.
